My husband and I decided to get married on Barbados. This was a second marriage for each and we knew that what we wanted was a simple intimate ceremony for just the two of us. I contacted several wedding planners on the island and quickly and easily decided that Lisa St. John with Island Bliss was the choice for us. Lisa promptly answered my inquiry and, not only listened, but heard what we wanted without trying to create a larger event. She graciously facilitated the process including meeting us at the marriage license office, selecting the lovely location, engaging the minister of whom we became very fond in a short amount of time, securing the witnesses and making our dinner reservation. She was always responsive in the weeks leading up to the event to answer questions. Our simple little wedding turned out to be something very special. And, we now have a new friend on the Island!

    Paul and Julie – 30th January 2018
This was not the first marriage for either of us and our children are grown up with families of their own and scattered round the globe from Ireland to Australia. Getting everyone together for our wedding would have been impossible. So we made the decision to tell no one and get married while on holiday, offending them all equally. As there was only the two of us, a hotel package seemed inappropriate, so after a litter research we settled on Island Bliss and made enquires. Jean responded with several suggestions and a few weeks later we agreed a simple package that met our needs. We booked a one week holiday in Barbados and told Jean the exact dates and location of our stay and she pulled together the itinerary accordingly.
Jean picked us up on our first weekday in Barbados and took us to get the licence, which went smoothly, as she had prepared us well. She also offered and arranged for a hairdresser to call in to our hotel the following day, for a few finishing touches to the brides hair.
On following day, the car picked us up and took us to the beach at Fitts Village, where the Minister and Photographer where waiting along with Jean and her assistant. The simple ceremony followed, along with a glass of bubbly and a few photographs, before the car took us the The Tides restaurant for a meal.
Jean managed to get the certified copies of the marriage certificate to us before we left and the photographer, Addison Cumberbatch, made the proofs available to view.
The whole experience went without hitch and we are eternally grateful to Jean for making this so.

I had a bit of an unconventional idea for my 10th anniversary renewal, and the team at Island Bliss made it all a reality! They tracked down a number of unique requests, like the same priest who performed our original ceremony, and went through a number of planning changes with us. We could not have asked for more on not just our special day but our special week as we had all come from the US. The attentiveness, focus on details, and not fearing to tell me when my decisions weren’t potentially the best – seriously, Island Bliss is exactly what you want from event planning.

We had some fairly specific ideas and requirements for our wedding, and knew that a resort wedding wasn’t for us and our guests,. The thought of planning a wedding remotely was a scary prospect, and the thought of leaving it someone that we had never met was equally daunting, however, after an initial conversation with Jean @ Island Bliss my concerns were more than put at ease.
Jean had a lot to contend with, having tentatively organised a venue, the number of guests went above our estimation, so we had to come up with an alternative plan, dealing with our sometimes lax communication when life got in the way, helping us with the little extras that we wanted as part of the wedding, managing a wedding that covered 3 different venues, and had various requirements, nothing was too much, and everything was dealt with calmly and professionally, it was seamless. Island Bliss delivered our dream wedding. Jean and the team at Island Bliss worked so hard on our wedding day, even our guests all commented on what a find they were. We can’t recommend the Island Bliss team enough, if you want a dream wedding/event in Barbados you need to get in touch with Island Bliss.

We arrived back to Bristol, RI late last night from my son and daughter-in-law’s Barbados wedding, and haven’t yet unpacked because the first order of business was to write a review about Island Bliss Barbados. We have visited Barbados seven times with our family and, so when Becky and Michael selected Barbados as their wedding venue, we weren’t surprised but a bit concerned as to how they would pull off the planning and execution from so far away. Becky found the excellent reviews of Island Bliss and once she began corresponding with Jean she relaxed and knew that Jean would create the perfect wedding for her and my son. We had the pleasure of meeting Jean when we visited Barbados in April for a wedding planning vacation and her competence, excellent communication, humor, kindness, creative vision and fun loving spirit shone through in the first five minutes.
Jean’s recommendation for the rehearsal dinner at Hugo’s was simple perfection. We had the entire top floor balcony to ourselves with delicious food and a beautiful ocean view. The wedding ceremony at Hunte’s Garden was breathtaking thanks to Jean, Lisa and their team and when returning to the villas where we stayed, Jean transformed the pool area into a sophisticated and chic venue where we drank, ate and danced the night away.
If you plan on getting married in Barbados, you must use Island Bliss as your wedding planning service. Jean and Lisa are second to none and are exceptionally professional and honest as well as delightful human beings!
