My husband and I decided to get married on Barbados. This was a second marriage for each and we knew that what we wanted was a simple intimate ceremony for just the two of us. I contacted several wedding planners on the island and quickly and easily decided that Lisa St. John with Island Bliss was the choice for us. Lisa promptly answered my inquiry and, not only listened, but heard what we wanted without trying to create a larger event. She graciously facilitated the process including meeting us at the marriage license office, selecting the lovely location, engaging the minister of whom we became very fond in a short amount of time, securing the witnesses and making our dinner reservation. She was always responsive in the weeks leading up to the event to answer questions. Our simple little wedding turned out to be something very special. And, we now have a new friend on the Island!

This was not the first marriage for either of us and our children are grown up with families of their own and scattered round the globe from Ireland to Australia. Getting everyone together for our wedding would have been impossible. So we made the decision to tell no one and get married while on holiday, offending them all equally. As there was only the two of us, a hotel package seemed inappropriate, so after a litter research we settled on Island Bliss and made enquires. Jean responded with several suggestions and a few weeks later we agreed a simple package that met our needs. We booked a one week holiday in Barbados and told Jean the exact dates and location of our stay and she pulled together the itinerary accordingly.
Jean picked us up on our first weekday in Barbados and took us to get the licence, which went smoothly, as she had prepared us well. She also offered and arranged for a hairdresser to call in to our hotel the following day, for a few finishing touches to the brides hair.
On following day, the car picked us up and took us to the beach at Fitts Village, where the Minister and Photographer where waiting along with Jean and her assistant. The simple ceremony followed, along with a glass of bubbly and a few photographs, before the car took us the The Tides restaurant for a meal.
Jean managed to get the certified copies of the marriage certificate to us before we left and the photographer, Addison Cumberbatch, made the proofs available to view.
The whole experience went without hitch and we are eternally grateful to Jean for making this so.
